How UN Packchecker™ works
A clear distinction between a readable mark, a matching record and a reviewed package.
- Capture and confirm
Keep the entered mark alongside a standardised reading. No approximate identifier matching or guessed missing characters.
- Decode supported components
Interpret packaging type, performance designation, mass or density, S or test pressure, two-digit year, authorising State and identifier. References: ADR 2025, 6.1.2 and 6.1.3.1.
- Compare published GB records
Look for the exact GB reference in the imported drum, jerrican and box records. Compare the authorised mark and both published status sources. Only the source’s ** manufacture-year placeholder is treated as a wildcard.
- Explain the finding
Keep marking issues, record mismatches, unavailable information and differing status values visible. Show source dates rather than describing a saved snapshot as live.
- Refer for expert review
Photographs, approval certificates and closure instructions may be needed to resolve a question. A private Expert Review preview shows the proposed paid service and locally prepared evidence packet. Until live intake opens, seek clarification from the supplier or issuing authority.
What the results mean
The supported text components match a saved authorised mark and relevant statuses agree as Current. This is not authentication or approval to use the package.
A component, source status, revalidation detail or record comparison needs clarification. An apparent discrepancy is not automatically described as counterfeit packaging.
No sufficient record comparison is available—for example, the reference was not found, the source data could not load, or the country is outside GB coverage.
The entry cannot be interpreted using the supported format, or the packaging needs a different assessment. This does not itself mean the packaging is invalid.
The publication date belongs to VCA. The snapshot-check date records when that page was retrieved. Retrieving a page today does not make an older published record current. The checker flags a snapshot more than 30 days old for refresh and further verification. This is a maintenance limit, not a regulatory validity period.
